The Grid - Global Time Attack Challenge

Wish I could! But I haven’t found a lot yet where I can fit it. Maybe if I hop over to @Esk8Cave we could fit it there?

Yeah, on our spot it is possible to set it up :+1: we just need to measure it accurately and mark the positions @Dinnye

Love to see more people try it. I am sure under 20’s is possible, especially if you can find a space with plenty of clearance around the edges to swing out wide and carry high speed through the bends. Perth AUSPEV crew need to find a wider area as the bollards are hindering us!

Done on a 2wd Mountainboard. I can def go faster on a race board. I agree with @JeffyJ , sub 20 is hard but possible

Edit: adding my lines

Awesome to see it! Great result, especially for a mountainboard. Looking forward to what you can do on the race board. List has been updated

Yesterday I hopped over to Hendriks place. Unfortunately the parking lot was busy until pretty much the very end, with cars parking directly on the racing line. So we started with a modified track and by the end enough cars left that we could run the official layout. By that time my battery was at around 3.6V per cell  and by the end of my ‘warm’ laps 3.44V… soft cut configured for 3.4 hard cut 3.0 so I had pretty much no power. I can definitely do significantly better times with a charged up battery, I think sub 20 should be no problem with a bit more practice (and battery level)

Here’s some footage of me riding the modified version before the cars left:

Competition is heating up! I’m sure you’ll improve in next run @Dinnye :muscle:

Love to see people from around the world have a go like the T Race International time trial.

It’s such an excellent way to compete against others around the world without the extreme expense of international travel and nightmare of travel with boards.

We’ve decided to add a Dual Racer (esk8 + euc) combined times leaderboard also. Theres a few of us here and we know theres quite a few around the world too. Makes for some very interesting competition. I definitely need to step up my EUC game

I am a dual stroller

Been having fun with this one at our local meets. Car park is pretty crusty over these dimensions but it’s great practice none the less.

We finally have over 20 racers on the leaderboard, and it’s finally starting to look like a proper online race challenge, not just a local one

But we KNOW there are plenty of you out there with giant parking lots and plenty of Intro2speed sessions at hand - US racers, we’re looking at you!

If you’ve considered trying the grid out at your next practice session, please do! This track will take you less than 15 minutes to setup. We’d love for you to join us and give us some feedback on the track!

Do you typically have only one racer on the track at a time?

No we can easily have three or four at a time, especially if they’re similar ability/speeds.

None of our lots accommodate the grid unfortunately. Hard to even find suitable t race lots in San Diego .

Even in Arizona where its not as congested as San Diego its difficult to find that 131FT x 131FT ish of open space without curbs etc getting in the way.

This is our biggest lot, it’s huge and we have permission to use it.

seems like it would work but the light poles and planters make it hard…. GRID overlayed here to scale.

One of our secondary lots might work but it’s going to put riders kinda close to curbs, we might try it at this lot when we have the opportunity. Just not sure if the corners have enough space to make it useable. It’s a 50/50 if we get this lot or if it’s full from baseball leagues.

The hardest part of eskate track riding and racing? Finding a lot.

Yeah thats tricky! I dont think its worth using any lots with curbing near the turns. You wont be able to take your lines confidently not have the width to take them at speed.

We toyed with the idea of a ‘mini grid’ but the turns are so short and sharp that you might as well be t-racing instead

I’ve got a similar problem where I’m at, my local public lots look like this:

Plenty of length, but only enough width for T race. I’d love if there was another common standard with 20x50m+ dimensions that could support a high speed section or a sweeping turn.

Maybe a new route through a half grid? Or an extended long grid?

Yeah, even T-Race was hard to find  Envy the Aussie parking lots
