I came to prefer the location exactly as you have done it there.
On my last few builds i routed the phase wires along the hanger and back up as close to the baseplate as possible. I really liked how tidy it was and also that it restricted the movement at the wire exit so it practically eliminated any chance of damage to the phase wires at that location
6455 175kv can prob handle 60A motor on start up. Reacher spec said it can do 46A max for 30 sec. My 6485 151kv supposedly can only handle 96A for 15 sec but Iāve pushed 140A through them, granted it was only on hard launches. My guess is they can handle higher peak amps for a couple seconds.
A little detail on the brackets and why i am having some made
Modification to an existing bracket would be the easiest way, but everything I found was too far short of what i wanted. One of the things i want for this build is to be a little more compact and the extra length added by idea brackets just looked off aesthetically
It felt like a compromise i didnāt need to do, not being the dimensions i wanted but also needing modifications to work with the trucks.
I started by designing an ideal bracket as an stl in mater-control and it was ab absolute pain but i was familiar with the interface and didnāt know it would absolutely cripple my ability to make modifications to the design without ruining the dimensions. Every tweak and work around to make the free version do what i wanted also altered the spacing on the holes or screwed up the mesh irreparably. Finally took the advice of everyone i was whining too and switched to fusion. I also didnāt fully understand the difference between stl files and step files and how that had been holding me back. Every modification i needed to make to the stl was basically a new design from scratch and therefore a hassle i kept pushing off.
got on YouTube and downloaded fusion - set up a free license and started working through a couple basic tutorials. Tried just jumping in and couldnāt do anything . The interface and method of work flow was just too unfamiliar.
After a few tutorials my eyes opened, so much easier to create a constrained sketch then modify the dimensions to tweak it after exporting and printing a pla mock up. At the advice of quite a few folks i decided to make a three part assembly with the cheapest manufacturing process in mind - water jet or laser cutting from standard materials. A left and right bracket in mirror images and a spacer with two bolts across them similar to the attachment of the idea brackets.
After i got it to a place i liked I shopped a couple local machine shops and kept getting the fuck off price which kinda sucked. My first and worst was almost $1500 for a single set of brackets. The price included all of the truck and attachment holes and taps even though I specifically asked for them to be omitted. Lame. Send cut send was a tenth that price for two sets powder coated but i had to switch materials and thicknesses. Best i could get was .5 304 ss instead of 7075 alu in 5/8ā (16ish mm). Im pretty proficient in drilling and taping ss and will be doing all that post processing myself.
Order in and November 23 estimate for delivery
Absolutely correct. Itās insane how many household problems i can quickly solve with CAD and 3d printing.
Plus, Fusion is my new favorite video game I was bored the other day so i designed a custom gear drive for my upcoming last-mile build, from scratch, in a few hours. So much fun
From what I have heard, Bustin got bought out and is selling some pretty crappy quality boards now, and itās a gamble if you get the older good ones or one of the newer ones with shitty QC.
I saw a bunch of this same sad news. I have an old sportster and love it. Sad when a company gets bought by non skaters and the quality and qc gets abandoned for profit margins.
Donāt worry about him, if this build had a thread id be from 2022 and incomplete.
Hurry up ben! I need to see your spin on the bustin build! Been hinting at it like an anime fight scene stretched over two seasons and 6 episodes. Gonna name your board dbz - dam bens sleepin
Mine has been sitting on my workbench since 2020, so I think Iām good. Also been using it as an acoustic board without issue. But thanks for looking out!
