Surfer Sonic 1st Build

Surfer Sonic 1st Build

My last long board was a Lib Tech and was stolen from me and I haven’t ridden a longboard since. I was gonna do something modern like most y’all and do all white with green sprinkles but decided to do something crazier like my old board. Like one of the best salesmen to ever live said " I wanna make it so sexy people wanna lick it."

So I thought after 10 years its time to slay some pavement again. I did an electric fat bike but miss riding a board. This time I found out you can do some things like change degree of trucks and get different bushings to help with speed wobbles etc. I never even thought about that in the past. My friends and I just rode and when things got shaky we just dealt with it. Thanks to this forum Ive learned a ton (thanks Y’all), thought this was gonna be easy just bolt on some stuff and be done eh?

I wanted long as possible (im 6’4",) dropped as possible, girth as possible. Bought what was said to be 10 ply 2" drop but ended up only being 9 ply.

I still have about 3 packages a day, I sneak in pieces of ham, then let my dog know someone brought us some presents. Lets just say he loves the ups guy.

No enclosure fit my board so had to learn how to fiber glass too

Ended up doing 2 layers of some special 12k that is 62% increase 29% increase 44% Weight Savings compared to other CF

I will admit I wasn’t sure this was gonna turn out as planned, luckily i succeeded.

  1. nice work with the glassing! Love the deck and enclosure!
  2. that depth stop on your drill bit is genius. Way better than some tape that lets you drill right through the deck
  3. I think I want to lick it…

Can’t wait to see more porn❤️

Looks like a deep socket. That’s what I used to drill my holes for my inserts. Works great.

Sick build!
That matte texture on the enclosure really looks cool, like some kind of Rhino Liner, lol.
I’m still waiting to finish up the battery to fill my own enclosure, so awesome you were able to whack this together so quickly and have it look this good! (Ok, I’m a little jelly, lol)

Cheers!

Lol I just followed your enclosure thread. Just used tons of :turtle: wax.

Ya that’s truck bed liner from harbor freight which is the best OTC liner u can buy and the texture is from rollers they make by duplicolor made for truck bed liners. Then metal flaked while right after u apply it.
Just don’t use Rust-Oleum tb liner if u ever do it is way to soft like an underbody coating. The harbor freight stuff dries like a tank I use it for other applications too.

what deck did you use?

The standard 41.25 long x 9.75 2" drop thats branded under a bunch of different names, note the this one is labeled as a 10 ply but it is only a 9 ply. With the two layers of super carbon fiber its stiffer than stiff. Im sure stock its stiff enough for most, but the extra layers made it bullet proof.

I like my boards flexy!

thats dope what kind of deck is that, and wheels? Im sure you wouldn’t like this deck then its pretty stiff even stock.

the wheels are eLofty rubber 105mm I use those on torn-up shitty roads. normally I use 90-97mm 'thane, the board is a 6 ply maple pressed for me by a friend in Huntington Beach
