Hello dear ESK8 friends and Fam!
As some of you may already be aware, SKP is no longer ran by me (Artem) since about early August we have begun an ownership transfer.
I’m going to try and answer some of your questions here.
“What is going to happen to my order”
If you have an order with SKP it is going to be fulfilled by the new owner, and that is Ray over at La jolla Ebike and Skate. Unless your order number is #2575 or under, and there are a few of you … exactly 4 orders that I am still responsible for fulfilling along with a few warranty and repair tickets, but outside of these all new orders are fulfilled by the new business owner.
“Why did you sell SKP”
Many of you may know about the fire we had a little over 1 year ago, the fall out from this forced me to move my operation into my garage, while I figured out what direction to take my business. At the time we had about 6 part time employees and a large 1500sqf shop, things were going well, untill we lost most of this along with a good chunk of inventory that was water damaged. Moving a 1500sqf shop into a 400sqf garage was rough, I also did not want to have 6 people trying to work in this space. So we downsized to 1 guy plus me, and although the business was well on its way to recovery from the fire this also made it even more difficult to run the business out of my garage. Oh and the fire was not found to be caused by anything relating to SKP, it was most likely a power strip that we purchased at Uline.
In order to be able to afford another shop space lease I would also have to work alot more than I already was, so basically I was at a cross road. I could dive back into the business and devote even more time and energy and resources to it or see if anyone would like to take over.
Since I am still working my day job and I have a family to take care of, I really do not have anymore time or energy I could spare to try and get things back to pre-fire level, and so I decided to seek a sale. Ontop of this the fire took much more than a shop and inventory from me, I dont like to admit this…but it also took a bit of my fire for Esk8 away from me aswell.
This coupled with my desire to go back to school and get my PE in electrical engineering made the sale decision most attractive. And when I talked to Ray about this and he expressed interest I was overjoyed, as I firmly believe Ray and la jolla ebike and skate are fully capable of carying on what I created and taking SKP to the next level.
You may have already noticed there are new products on skyartpower.com and there are much more in the works!!
