Significant Others [POLL]

Just out of curiosity how does your significant other view your esk8 obsession? And how to you deal with those who thinks you should do what you love…less?

I for one am married, been with her for 23 years. I don’t skate as regularly as most of you, maybe ride 6 hours worth a week usual when the wife is at work and kid is at school or after bedtime so it doesn’t interfere with family life. I’m lucky in that she wants me to go ride more but I don’t because I’m better at entertaining our daughter vs her just plopping her in front of the TV. After her sprained ankle injury heels up she wants to ride with me.

  • “Lonely…I’m so lonely…I’ve nobody…to call my own…”
  • “Go enjoy yourself, be safe”
  • “Can I come ride with you too?”
  • “You skate too much, grow up. Pay attention to me!”
  • “Stop it or I’m leaving!”

Meeting @BigBen added some credibility to my esk8 activities because my wife knows he’s a proper adult where I’m like 65% adult on a good day.

One close person said once to me: “Why are ya putting thousands of Weasels(money) in there, when you can’t ride legally here. You’re actually commiting crime, my dear”. I know, but I ride nonetheless, with the hope of demonstrations to get to a legal world. Guess who it was. @Mainsedora’s Mom, sorry @SeanHacker’s mom.:wink:

Yeah meeting Louis and the South west crew got Amy interested. She made it a mission to learn for the evolve open. Now she’s hooked.

The only downside is that this hobby just got twice as expensive cause she wants a board now :slight_smile:

My rides are usually 1 hour long, weekends before they get out of bed, weeknights after they go to bed or I get off work an hour early and ride before I have to make dinner. I make sure to never impede on family time. Also, as the person that does the grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning my schedule is pretty limited.
