I had issues with VX1, got lucky with VX2 and it worked well, VX4 original was a nightmare. The VX4 pro has been excellent. Running it on 8 of our boards. The only problem I’ve had was when I forgot it was still attached to my board when hosing it off…. If there’s a better remote available please let me know. I’m not smart enough to get the GB dual trigger remote set up.

I am over the Z-motes because mine started failing. But they were og ones and lots of miles.
But I no longer have them I the roster.
I am not sure, but I believe people have had weird stuff happening on newer models like the split trigger

I do. Not sure if it was the first wave. I can get it to run but smart reverse doesn’t feel very smart. Also no telemetry. Waiting for a response with the troubleshooting.
Nice, i haven’t tried it . I am working on a mode that will disconnect the remote when you are 2 meters away from your esk8 so it can’t run away/hit someone if you press full throttle
Have you tried puck 2? Imo radiomaster mt12 is the best but it is not for everyone
I haven’t. The VX4 pro has been solid so haven’t had much motivation to experiment. Also I like telemetry on the remote. Hoping the GB dual trigger pans out.
Yeah… about that.
I made it a block out and it started doing the slight acceleration bumps and shortly after I got the fast flashing lights.
I pushed home.
My first thought was to try and replace the battery.
So I opened it up. And in the process broke something off the PCB…
So yeah. This Pink GT2B is dead dead…
I believe my issue with the GT2B may have been caused by a resistor breaking off…
And wild voltage variations…
I expect it happened from being dropped…
So unfortunately my first failed GT2B came happened after way less use than a my first failed Mini Remote.
And way way less use than my first failed Z-mote.
These things are just not made to be robust assuming you are going to be moving at fast speeds with them…
I really really enjoyed the feel of the GT2B…
The pioneers of gravity-powered mountainboarding didn’t balk at holding a brake lever on the end of a tethered cable. What’s stopping you from using a badass wired remote now? The nice ones aren’t cheap, but I’ve seen gorgeous machined bidirectional thumbwheels meant for the style of control we’re used to, implemented as a 5V hall sensor + magnet setup. I tried a Fiido scooter (Brian Perez’s?) setup with one, was a joy to use. VESC already plays ball with it. You only need 5V, GND, Signal, can use a locking/threaded connector on the board. There’s no need for shielding, and only a tiny bit of current is used, so even something like a coiled phone cord would work. No worries about the tethered remote going flying… If it’s simply a stub of handlebar with a battle-hardened thumbwheel attached, let it go flying + let the cord rip out by the roots. Now you’ve got me thinking about going wired!
You’ve also got me thinking about divorcing the wheel + grip from the battery + electronics for a wireless remote. The chunk goes in your pocket, protected by clothing & flesh, while the remote itself is in-hand at the end of said coiled cord. Kyle Rudolph races and hoons with his remote on a retractable cord so that if he lets-go to glove slide, it returns to his belt. When he’s done sliding, he knows where to grab it. Basic idea = battle harden only what matters, tuck the rest away, connected by a cheap-ass commodity cord. Carry a spare cord.
GT2B have broke when i would crash. but usually the symptom was less signal, cutouts.
with any remote i’d have used the vesc remaping (or a hobby signal monitor) to see if it was behaving weird. jumpy stuff is usually pots or wiring.

I have not had a chance to go ride yet… stupid rain.
But I already have some first impressions of the VX4 Pro.
1 - I’m pumped to have something purpose made for this. I have used hobbywing and VX1 remotes in the past. But mostly Minis. And recently GT2Bs. I suppose the Z-motes were purpose built. the case made it seem diy…
2 - I’m pumped to have a screen. I never really had one(long time since my Evolve days). Always thought it seemed unnecessary. Having it is nice… it sparks joy.
3 - Having buttons that do stuff. Also a novel thing for me… I think it’s cool.
4 - I was able to set it up. Even though I did not look up proper instructions I made it work. This goes a long way for me. I’m lazy and have a hard time paying attention…
5 - the build seems really solid. Tiny. But firm!!!
Again. All first impressions. Hope I can get used to the thumb wheel…
The TPU case that @Daada designed gives it a little more girth. I think it’s saved my remotes during a few falls too.
I think a case will be a good move.
I already printed Alex’s… on my third print of that one to get a nicer quality…

You could print it in TPU but supports will probably be a bit of a pain, and I’m not sure about threading a screw into it
