I never run wires out enclosure edges, that what holes are for. I have been using foam, but it compresses over time.

I probably should put more effort into finding more of this butyl stuff though. The stuff you’re referring to is black and sticky, like blue-tac but stickier?

I think I’ve used it before. I had a car body repainted in 2005, I used this around the sunroof incision. It was called non setting windscreen sealant then. It was black, sticky like blue-tac but did dry out slowly over years still. It come in a caulking tube like silicone but never really quite hardens and requires turps for cleanup.

I’m not sure though, is this consistent with what you guys consider bytile rope? What industry is it typically use in? I haven’t seen anything for sale lately on my travels.

Ever pulled the interior panel off of a car door, and there is a thick layer of translucent plastic as a vapor barrier?

That plastic is usually held to interior door skin, with butyl rope.
Forever sticky and messy, and tears the plastic.

Not sure of the online marketplace in NZ, or whether this link works there.

Ah yep, I’ll look out for it, cheers. Maybe one of the auto body suppliers has it then.

I’ve never bought off ebay before, usually shipping isn’t available. That one has shipping, but the shipping is $30, about twice the price of the sticky stuff itself.

That ebay link was just the first one I grabbed as an example.

You guys might call butyl by a different name, like what you call bitumen we call asphalt, and neither is ‘technically’ correct on alternate wednesdays and fridays , on a waxing moon phase.

Boats often use it to bed deck hardware. There is white and black, but the white has issues.

I’ve bought it in NZ on aliexpress. Ok if you’re not in a rush. Some composites shops have it for vac bagging and infusion etc.

I’ve had the brackets for a while now, had them on a spud but just recently deck swapped to my tesseract… the tessy needed a chop, and it’s super flexy but I took it for it’s maiden voyage last night and I was stoked with it! Just hope it doesn’t snap :joy:

I’m more curious about https://www.gbomblongboards.com/brackets TBH. The gbomb ones seem way cooler to me because you can adjust the angle. I don’t know how much I’d trust the plastic ones for an eskate, though, and the metal ones are a bit pricey for me.

The brackets on the tangent are made by gbomb. They seem plenty strong enough for a push board!

The surf skate version gets lots of wheel bite, deck is awesome. Gonna put some idea brackets on it to get a smidge more clearance. Might put motors on it but for now it’s a fun push board

@glyphiks Oh nice, how much do the bracket weight ? Isn’t it heavy for a pushboard ?

@pecos how is the deck ? Flex/stiff ?

The brackets are pretty damn light… the dadbod 105s however…. :joy:

Barely some flex. Feels like it might be in the brackets though. Very stiff but just a bit of springy.

Random question: but whatever happened to the tech shit fella? I sorta expected he might re-incarnate as some other creature by now but it just hasn’t happened. Does anyone know if he’s still alive?

I wish boardnamics was still alive. I’d buy more of those street gear setups. My dick gets hard every time I ride the one and only set I’ve got.

@tech.cunt got the perma ban finally.

Ok, I swear this is the last time I’ll post about this prank but damn, @Pecos you’re a genius for the cricket noisemaker idea. It’s only his second ride back and he’s noticing. We had a few other conversations after this. The sound was obvious but I just pretended not to hear anything. Best $14 ever spent!
