I was playing around with a few of my pairs of gloves and my remote and I realized that in the event of a fall it is your natural instinct to put your hands out flat ( a great tool for survival… in some circumstances) and if your finger is inside the loop you will most likely have it dragged under your hand and skid directly across the surface your sliding over. I’ve tried this with multiple gloves/gloveless on different surfaces and they all grab the controller and roll it onto it’s flat side. Which coincidentally pulls your finger into the ground!
I’ve looked on here for a topic describing this but haven’t found one so figured id put the info out. Especially since most cheap/entry level remotes a new rider will buy are this type. Be extra cautious using the finger hole on your remote!
As someone who has lost a fingernail, I can guarantee you do not want this to happen. Stay safe everyone!
Which remotes beside the Deathmote has a finger hole?
Very good point though. Correctly falling is a large part of safely riding!
Unfortunately, pretty much every cheap entry level remote a new rider will buy. Like this one! before I bought a vx2
I had this exact thing happen before I switched to hoyt
It’s all fun and games until you crush your finger in between the solid ass Hoyt puck and the ground
It must be how I hold it but almost every crash I’ve done it to my ring finger
When puck turns to “slide puck”
From the 2018 archive =P i used the controller as a puck some apparently…
On my to the train station I was coming around this corner a little to fast… And leaned in a little to hard…and lost my balance and had to run off the board but since I was going a hair faster than my little legs could keep up with instead of a tragic fall my body instinctively went into “Magic Mike mode” and did the cool power slide on my knees and then I popped right up… I guess I also used the controller to power slide my hand with out any scrapes there…
Board crashed into the curb and came back at me and I grabbed it a was back off like.i meant to do it… I think people in the cars were like wtf is happening =P
1 fender died in the process and the headlight is still ok!
Ohh thats nice. I really like the boosted remote, might try scavenge one from somewhere for this purpose
cut off the unnecessary PCB here. Otherwise it’s bulky when you wrap your finger around.
This a guy who prints shitty cases. Not open source so fuck him.
I made the first prototype,. He copied, then started selling. But then everything said his print job sucked ass who bought and he stopped pushing. I offered him 100 bucks to give up the file.
Even better. Just cut off the entire arm! Imagine the drag reduction!
Sooo you guys don’t like sticking fingers in holes?
