direct-drives arenāt really suited for that in all reality, all that unsupported-cantilevered weight on the axle can be very problematicā¦

Is that actually an issue in reality? Donāt think Iāve seen any bent TB DDsā¦
well think about itā¦ youāve seen bent trucks, now take away almost all the hanger and replace it with a non-structural motorā¦
i donāt know if itās me or a language deal, but from where I come from up and down curbs means jumping, like at least one axle leaving the groundā¦
I donāt jump in reality, but I have bent an axle, however not a TB DD

Actually, I prefer the feel of narrower front trucks. Iām surprised to hear you say this.

Narrow rear and wide front feels mushy to me and likely to get wobbles.
For aesthetic reasons, wider front looks better by farā¦ but I donāt like the handling
