Need help with lacroix board

Hi guys my lacroix jaws 2.0 is malfunctioning, I have had it for over 2 years and have done over 10 thousand kms.

The board has become jerky on acceleration also has spots where the acceleration just cuts out for a second, also the brakes sometimes hardly work or just come to a immediate stop where it throws me from the board.

Can someone give me some advice?

Thank you guys

Your remote may be physically damaged. Fiddle with the throttle with the board on a table and nothing touching the wheels

It works fine with weight off the wheels but as soon as I stand on it the problems start again

which remote? hoyt puck?

retry the table experiments but gently apply side to side force on the throttle, that usually shows if it’s doing the disconnected pot failure mode.

another thing that can happen is temp senssors or the wires connecting them going bad, wild temp readings will cause the ESC to jump in and out of htermal throttling.

Maybe hall sensors going out?

How would I know if it’s the wires?

Thank you

It’s the Hoyt puck and I tried the side to side light pressure I’m not sure if it’s making a difference what would either solution be?

if it’s the remote. get a new one, (or have it repaired)

if it’s the wires, you need a way to look at temp sensor readings. so a data logger, (voyage systtems mini, .. ) or look at it real time in vesc tool. possibly you could use "yours truly’ app on an iphone. look for temps jumping around.

for the hall sensors, get into vesc tool, to hall sensor detection. look a the current valuees. (list of like 6 numbers). Do detection. if it fails, that’s the issue. if the numbers are way off from what was there, (unlikely) you might have an the issue, detect a couple more times, see if the numbers stay roughly the same.

Thank you I will try it and test it as soon as the rain clears up, I hope this fixes it because I can’t afford to fix it for a while.

Thank you again

Have you dropped the remote recently that you can remember? V1 pucks have a know issue with wires coming lose which can cause the exact issues youre having. There is a fix on here and on YouTube if you can manage repairing some spot welds inside the remote.

Do you have another remote to test with?

No I don’t have one but I have dropped it a lot, is it easy to connect a new remote?

Yes. If you buy a replacement Puck 1 you can pair it with the current receiver that’s already in the board.

To do that just hold the left 2 buttons and the top right one at the same time for theee seconds until the remote starts flashing red, then power on your board and it should pair right away. That’s it.

if you get a Puck 2.0 you will need to open the enclosure to replace the remote receiver. Just unplug the old one, plug in the new one and follow the same pairing process as above. I’d go Puck 2.0 as the loose wiring issue in the Puck 1 has been addressed in 2.0.

Connecting a new puck is very easy: see above (edit because my ooo was backwards)

You can open up the puck you have and look at the throttle pot to see if it’s damaged from a fall but it won’t be obvious if the pot is just worn out. The solder joints sometimes break from a fall that hits the throttle just right and sometimes will even crack the pot along the seam. Just open it carefully in a clean room on hard floors - the little throttle spring likes to jump out and hide in corners and carpet - don’t ask me how i know lol

Thank you so much I will purchase a puck 2.0 as soon as I can afford it, it’s been torture being esk8less:+1::blush:

Thank you mate I will buy a new one as soon as I can afford it to be safe:blush::+1:

I can only buy a new Hoyt puck 1.0 everywhere in Australia the 2.0 isn’t available is it ok if I just replace it with the 1.0?

Absolutely, the 1.0 is still a solid remote

Thank you again mate for looking that up for me I really appreciate it, I saw they were outta stock so i bought one from Ben Buckler Boards a series 1.0 and I will be home in 4-5 hours to find out if that’s the only drama, I hope it is cause my board is my main and only mode of transport apart from public transportation, my lacroix already had the 1.0 connected but it’s been dropped dozens and dozens of times so I hope the new one is the issue, what is the process of changing remotes do I need to open where the battery and esc are?
