My Esk8s. A journal of sorts

The GTVX continues to kill it in the snow and I’m having the best time riding it.

I took it to the sledding slope and it totally killed it.

And the night before we had some powder and I was flying around in 4 inches of powder and it was so magical.

Killing it on the sled hill.

Look at all that powdery goodness.

I can’t believe the GTVX was able to tow my 10 year old around… But here we are.

We went back to the sled hill yesterday and parts were super slick. But parts had some powder, it was wild.

The drives don’t seem that bad.
I can clean them up.

I am pretty sure I’ll be able to keep these running. But it does make me wonder if life would be easier with chains.

I wonder who makes motor mounts for these 3D Servisas trucks that are 20x20

Right as I opened the box I found moisture in there…

And as I started looking I quickly saw the soot…

Don’t get your ESCs wet kids…
It’s a bad day…

The battery seems ok.

I really enjoy the aesthetics and form factor of these junction boxes!!!

But I killed a Unity on the Gravel Boi I think last winter, and now this one.

So I think I need to consider a more water resistant enclosure.

I need one that can fit my 12S7P pack and the Unity.

@BenjaminF what is the massive box you used?

Apache 2800 from harbor freight. Pretty good for how cheap it is. It will be very roomy for just a 12s7p and a unity. You might be better served by one of their smaller sizes, not sure.

So here I am once again shuffling stuff around.

The Gravel Boi loses the MAD wheels to go back into winter mode.

There is no worry of wheel bite with the 9s and the matrix III.
I think I would have been a problem with matrix III.

As I look around more I think what happened is that water caused a short on the battery lead going into the Unity…

So the Ultra Reliable tank which is the Gravel Flux goes on the wall until some parts arrive.

It’s a beautiful winter morning.

So the Gravel Boi goes on the bench to get 9 inch wheels.

I realized I can just put the Phatladz with the Mudpluggers on here because Fackos chain sprockets are drilled for both MBS and Trampa.
Sweet deal @Facko

Taking the pulleys off was pleasantly uneventful.

I will have to move the motor mounts.

But that is going to be super easy because these mounts are awesome.
Makes me want to give you hugs and kisses every time Liam @Tony_Stark

The hardest thing I have to do is find spacers and bolts to mount the chain sprockets on.

Ok.
So the esk8 gods were looking out for me today and I found spacers I could use and 10 bolts that were a suitable length.

It means a lot to me finding the right length bolts… And not having to cut bolts.

This should be a decent offset from the tire.

I think the Trampa Phatladz are narrower on the bearing seat than most hubs, so I have room for washers. Trying to push the wheels out as much as possible.

I did have to move the motor mounts. But it’s so freaking easy with the Radium mounts. Makes them worth every freaking penny…

So one side done and it went as smoothly as it could.

The other side went just as smoothly and we were back on the snow…
