Hah! That’s probably the highest I’ve seen logged yet. Thanks for sharing.
And you called it- uphill + short distance run will skew numbers. Unless you’re going uphill for an entire run you’ll likely not hold anywhere close to that.
It’s a pretty subjective & personal-preference type of thing. I’m also not sure there’s a metric for it, so I can only go by what I’ve personally experienced building out a variety of boards.
This is what I know to be true for my personal preference for skate decks:
Lots of risers = no Bueno. The moment I’m up to 1/2" riser I feel like I should re-assess the builld.
Drop-through preferred over top mount.
6inch+ AT wheels + top mount + no-drop deck = way too high for me. It greatly reduces my ability to carve stably at higher speeds vs a lower COG MTB deck.
@Soflo I have a nylon printed jig that I use in conjunction with a Transfer Punch Set to mark the standard hole pattern on top. From there- a really tough drill bit and a steady hand? I always pilot drill those and step them up- those decks are tough as nails so not particularly easy to drill through. Inserts are fun too.
