Lipo: different s types in series

Hi, I have 6, 3s 5500 mAh 50c3 in series, in in parellel for a 9s2p. It works great on dual 6364 260kv motors. Just wondering if I can add 1s2 p in series to get it to 10s as long as the mAh are the same.

Physically you can, but it’s bad practice. The new group will have much less resistance than the old groups so it will have a lower voltage drop across under load which means it will wear out slower, so the problem gets worse and the pack will struggle to stay balanced

No, you can’t do that.

You can set battery packs on fire, generally not recommend.

It might only catch half the battery on fire so make the weak half detachable so you can rip it off real quik and throw it before it catches the stronger half on fire

now this is some good design. You would be my top pick for the Raptor 4.2

I say go for it! Do it …but put lipo alarms on all 7 packs .

The new cell will be unbalanced. But if you use a good balance charger and individual cell low voltage alarm I don’t see a reason why this should not work.

Its generally not recommended to do something like this. The best solution would be new 5s lipos but if you are careful and know what you are doing it should be fine.
