Its just about keeping things consistent, using the same filament, keeping the same moisture in the air, using the same settings and making sure there is a set air circulation. If these things are kept im sure results will be similar enough.

And drying your filament.

Would you bet your life on that? Would you bet someone else’s life on that?

Thats a little dramatic there… do you know the purity/properties of the aluminium you buy from the factory?

If you are good you design around the strengths/weaknesses of your material/process. This design as discussed is poopdog imo and i wouldnt trust my life with it

I guess you’ll have to excuse me for taking safety-critical components seriously.

Yes? And even if I didn’t, industrial aluminum smelting is a MUCH more consistent process than hobbyist 3D printing. To equate the two is pretty wild.

Yes, absolutely, everyone should always be tailoring their design to suit their manufacturing method. But to claim that it’s possible to design, print, and sell esk8 wheels safely is dangerous and irresponsible. I stand by what I said before:

On a HILAROUS note… i just did a qwk search to see who tests skateboard wheels - The United States Product Safety Comission (for the U.S. derp) - and “Loaded Boards” has a wheel recall front & center on the 1st page - I was going to ask/wonder aloud how many wheels in this market are actually tested at all (oficially) before reaching market -

answer - I couldn’t find any other esk8 wheel hub recalls wading through all the “ONEWHEEL” recalls/death notices - warnings.
Aparrently Onwheel is heading for bankruptcy - you don’t see that kinsd of action without a SLEW of lawyers breaking out the chapstick & breath spray.

((Speaking of DERP - the aforementioned recall was from 2009 - whew - my google searching skillz are on POINT!))

Sorry not sorry for reliving this old gem. I was searching for Sixshooter stuff and this thread showed up. I was curious to see what DocMcA-Hole was up to.

Looks like he’s move on from DJing and wheels to selling beanies and sock with snap buttons.
