How to play a beep/sound after VESC startup

I was thinking if there’s a way to play a beep when starting the VESC in order to have a sonor feedback of the correct start of the electric skateboard.

tl;dr
The button of the anti-spark switch returns to the default state when pressed, so unless I lift the skate to see if the battery meter is illuminated I don’t know if I have turned on the longboard correctly.

Hook a speaker up to the 5V on the ESC and parallel the momentary switch to a momentary mosfet powering the speaker.

or just have the remote turn on before the board, so u can see the connection status?

Are you talking about adding a piezo disc, or making the sound inside the motor?

Ok, please can you provide some links of a suitable speaker and maybe a simple wiring scheme?

I’m using a winning remote which has the power led always on. So unfortunate that’s not possible for me.

Yes, I’d prefer a solution with a piezo disc or a passive buzzer.

I think a better option would be to upgrade your remote

Why? Some advice not too expensive?

Does your ESC have an ADC3 port? Which ESC are you using? What is your budget?

Hold up, this sounds like a cool idea. Add it to VariEsc!! Motor Scream Startup sound

That’s a lot more messy than adding a piezo disc on the ADC port. Considering the crazy low cost of the discs, it’s the much preferred option.

Get a vx1. It’s cheap, shows you the battery level and flashes the antenna led when it’s not connected. Just make sure it’s a very recent batch with no pairing issues.
Or just get a much brighter temporary switch that you can distinguish at least in shadow on a sunny day

Or just press the trigger and see if the skate moves

If I’ve already connected the Metr Pro how do i integrate the vx1’s receiver?

Can you provide a simple connection diagram please?

It won’t work without new software.

Is it a dual?
Simply plug it in the other side uart.
If not, take servo, vcc and gnd wires from the receiver and put them in the ppm/pwm port as a drop-in replacement to the old remote. You’ll need to also solder the white wire to the main phase + wire to get battery readings

And what about the motor sound you mentioned at the beginning? :eyes:

It’s not a dual.

Is that correct?

Yep. You found it.
I’ll ping @Anubis to ask if he has any vx1 left
