Maybe some sort of sandwich of led’s, wood or metal sheet with cuts in it, and a layer of acrylic or other clear material? If the LED’s are bright enough it should project to the ground.

If you want it in LED, as in powered and glowing, I would suggest EL Wire. If you just want the design, get a good pic, send it to @sender and he can skin it on a deck for you.

if you can’t stand the cathode ray tube level ring in your ears that the 110volt inverter is going to throw at you if you use EL wire, you could try sanding the acrylic until its foggy and stencil-spraying the black on. Then edge light it with LEDs. Signs have been doing it that way for years.

@longhairedboy Wouldnt he would need alot of clearance for the LEDs to be side mounted to the panel?

not if they were the PCB type. you could string those along the edge with thin guage wire and electrical tape after soldering the chain together with a needle tip.

They also have el paper. I was playing around with it for my circuit board but never got it feasibly figured out in time. They are super annoying and flaky to solder to. Please succeed where I failed.

I need this el paper so I can illuminate the entire top and bottom of my deck. maybe we dont’ have hoverboards, but we could make it look like we do at night lol

Whatever happened to that dude/post/thread on builders with the guy who had an el panel (maybe even sound responsive) he wanted to lay into the topside of the deck? Anyone remember what I’m talking about??

@flasher - do you have any more pictures of how this EL paper was integrated?
If you want to know, I can show you. I use El paper at work and it’s very annoying to solder to the connectors.
