Traction control will make it worse if one of your wheels stops moving forward, it will lock up the other one as well
All TC does on vesc is match the speed of all wheela to the slowest turning (or locked up) wheel.
Super fun on 4wd⦠not.
I have approx -70 motor -50 battery. I could set it lower so I canāt slide but then rain or light gravel would have the same problem and perhaps setting it higher would mean itās more likely either both slide or both grip.
I think it was occasionally better when I had smart reverse instead of bidirectional since when I brake too hard (skill issue 100%) they both lock up for 3 seconds before spinning backwards.
Sorry I donāt follow what you mean?
Imagine just gently braking and having all 4 wheels lock up
I think weāve had this conversation before but I had good luck with the blue dad bods . If you want to try mine out youāre welcome to before you take the plunge. I will send them up there to ya . They donāt look this pretty anymore though.
Oh. I forgot you had the blue ones
Absolutely do not lube your belt/pulleys.
First of all, itās super dangerous. Your belt relies a lot on friction with the pulley. Every time your belt skips, in addition to you losing brakes, you are stretching the belt and breaking some of the internal kevlar threads that give your belt its structure. So every belt skip breaks your belt a bit, and makes your belt more likely to skip more. Belt skip should ALWAYS be eliminated to whatever extent reasonably possible.
Second, lubing your pulleys is not going to stop rocks from getting stuck in the teeth. The issue is the rocks getting launched into the space between your belt and pulley, then rammed into the pully by the belt. Friction between the rock and the pulley has nothing to do with it, itās getting jammed in there.
The solution to your problem is belt covers. There is a lot of hate for belt covers, because most of the designs suck. Iād recommend finding (or making) a design like what @jack.luis made for his dadbod build. It fully fills the void between the wheel pulley/motor pulley/belt lines, completely blocking off any gaps for rocks to get in.
I always carry at least three spare drive belts on me.
Because snapping two drive belts and not having a third spare still, which does happen, causes irreversible stress and anxiety especially in the boon whoops, at night, when itās cold and starts raining.
Hey kids.
I made a little board for a neighbor kid.
I want to put setting in the Vesc to keep them from killing the battery.
I donāt want a hard shut down. Just a significant slow down.
Where and what do I set?
Itās 12S
Two things, why is something shaking inside of my vx4, and does anything sound off in my drives? Feels wrong

**12S li-ion**; super-conservative (50.4V charge)
cutoff start 43.2V
cutoff end 40.8V
**12S li-ion**; conservative (50.4V charge)
cutoff start 42V
cutoff end 38.4V
**12S li-ion**; aggressive (50.4V charge)
cutoff start 38.4 - 39.6V
cutoff end 36V
**12S li-ion**; max-range (50.4V charge)
cutoff start 43.2V
cutoff end 36V
**12S li-ion**; range + conservative (50.4V charge) **{my preferred}**
cutoff start 43.2V
cutoff end 38.4V

Well that didnāt workā¦. Iād go with super conservative
I think Iāll go with 43 38 here ![]()
I think I usually run 40 37ā¦but Iām not sure I have been changing this setting recentlyā¦
I would look in here and/or ask in there
edit: Oh, nevermind Justin already linked this
He sure tried ![]()
If you ordered that VX4 Pro from Amazon you should return it and get a new one asap. If you ordered directly from Flipsky it might be easier to just take it apart and see if you can find what is rattling around in there. The bolt is under the sticker and then the shell just snaps apart.
Canāt really tell much from the video about your drives. Does one side feel different than the other when spinning them by hand?
Yeah got it from Amazon, The drives feel even but the sounds are different, one had a much more clicky sound, Iām taking them apart soon to check.
If itās Amazon Iād just return and replace it with a new one.
Just charged my board, when i turned on my vx4 it shows less than 1 cell still. I then checked overkill to see that one of my temp sensors is reading way off causing charge under temp. Preventing me from getting a full charge, is that something i can bypass? Is that unsafe if i know its reading wrong? Will i have to rip my board open to check the wiring? Or is that something i should have a battery builder diagnose, any help is much appreciated.
I did take it to the store after charging and it keeps running after the vx4 says its dead, im half scared its going to toss me on my way home or light up like a tiki torch ![]()

Where does the vx4 take the board battery voltage from? I remember old vx remotes needed a wire soldered directly to pack voltage, but i assume the newer ones get it from the vesc somehow.
What does the vx4 show while the board is charging? Is it possible the vx4 is reading voltage from the charge circuit?
The negative reading on the thermistor may just mean that there is no thermistor connected to that particular port. I vaguely recall being able to turn off individual temp sensors in one of the bms apps but i may be mistaken⦠its been a while ![]()
I want to say its opposite, but only in ppm. Pic attached direct from flipsky, i am running uart so i just taped the extra wire up in the enclosure.
I want to say it is an issue as i have never had any issues charging until today, and have had the board for a couple years now. I am just wondering how catastrophic it could be, i have had a gear drive lockup on my faster board and launched me, so at this point im more worried about fire.
On the overkill app im not seeing any way of bypassing the temp sensor, only to change the temp cutoffs which doesnt seem ideal, i will look again just in case.
