Do you still have the discord server? Or better yet a telegram server?
I have a discord server discord
Two things.
One: discord is a privacy nightmare that will require you to upload your ID and a 3D scan of your face eventually
Two: your question might be useful to other people and it’s more visible on a forum like this then in discord.
If percentage was an option for battery display - that would be my preference for the board and remote fuel gauge.
It would be nice to tinker with options. Even though the open source version has fewer features, being able to tinker with the ui to make skins or modes is more appealing to me. A debug mode that displays all available info and a flashlight screen mode.
Also trip/lifetime for the odometer would be a simple way to display both - omitting any labels beyond mph or kph it will be obvious what the display means.
the lite and dual remotes fw are open source so you can do whatever you want actually
Oh, i thought it was both the fw and the hardware for the versions you were producing and distributing. I guess that makes a lot more sense that way.
I think the ui as you have it is pretty solid. Basic and clear and just the important info. Lots of options to change the major feel of the display but i think it’s a matter of taste and not a matter of function.
Battery and remote fuel/soc gauges I personally like at least 1/10 soc resolution and if graphically displayed in a small footprint, percentage is my preferred
the remote battery soc is in percentage, and for the esk8 if a compatible bms is plugged in it will show the esk8 soc in percentage, if not it’ll show the vesc voltage
“soc” here means state of charge
made this image to show how the connection works, maybe it would be easier to understand how it works.
Just sharing a quick project update (and venting).
Making a working prototype is so easy — turning it into a real product is amazingly hard
Right now I’m stuck because one of the receiver connectors has been out of stock for a long time, and suppliers can’t even provide an RFQ due to the supply crunch. The same thing is happening with the buck/boost inductor on the remote.
I could switch to different parts, but that would mean a new PCB batch, new stencils, reordering components, new mating cables… and I’ve already invested a lot into the current version. I need a few days to think through ![]()
Because of this, I won’t be shipping on the original schedule. The first units that were already purchased will likely take a few more weeks to deliver.
Got a part number? Maybe we can help find? ![]()
that’s the beauty of this forum, I was so worried about other stuff and was locked in with chinese supplier, just ordered from Mouser since they have it in stock, it was super expensive and it’ll mess with the bom cost but i need to deliver these remotes…
receiving the pcbs and enclosures next week, got a surgery in the shoulder (fell from a scooter 3 years ago) so it will be hard to do the work, anyway. just wanted to share current conditions
Wish. you get well soon and back to work. Krya på dig
tack så mycket!
Would like to express my gratitude torwards everyone who supported the project by ordering the remotes. Hope that this can become a good platform for the community and we can have a slightly better remote than the hoyt puck
Dude im so excited. Really glad you’re recovering from your injury.
Just recently dislocated my shoulder and it’s aggravated a long standing shoulder injury and now won’t quit. Picked up a couple of sets of hardware for the open source version to play with as i can’t skate for a couple weeks minimum while i wait for my MRI appointment and a sports med doc to tell me it’s an amputation only solution
j/k
Oh man, hope you get well! I got a labrum tear and had 5 anchors installed, it was tough!
if you need any help with the open source one let me know!
before shipping, checking the power consumption, pretty happy that it draws 0.12uA while on sleep.
Flipsky vx4 draws 30uA for reference
Hi all, does somebody have a tutorial or vesc parameters what is needed to be changed to work for CAN connection?
