Found a little stress fracture? (dickyho mounts)

I haven’t e-skated in over a month. Decided to do some maintenance and found this crack (upper center of photo). Is this just normal wear and tear? or wtf?

Considering your motors, mounts and trucks don’t look banged up I’m going with wtf

One of the batches was made from bad aluminum, judging by the lines in the anodized layer I’d say you have it. Those are prone to fracturing since the manufacturer just used cheap aluminum instead of the 7075 that the rest are made from (and a lot of our mounts for that matter)

Also, it looks like that was the version made without the relief cut in the bore and you’ve got it really torqued around a thicker part of the hangar so its under a shit ton of tension already

This can’t help. seems to be cranked really hard

Good eye. That looks to be the cause or at least the lion’s share of it…

By the gap of the pinch and how far it’s pinched put stress on it and found the weakest point.
The pinch gap is way too large.

I grinded that side down a little more narrower two months ago because the mount keeps sliding towards the gear. I’m tired of Paris mounts so going for Caliper mounts.

Boardnamics is a good alternative right?

yes, but you’ll need a new hanger.
the new hanger will probably fit in your existing baseplate, or just get the whole truck.

So Boardnamic caliber mounts won’t fit stock Caliber II 184mm trucks?

Sorry, my board’s mounts, belts, motor pulleys, kegel /abec wheel pulleys are all from Dickyho. So I’m not familiar with anything else. LOL

yes, @Boardnamics mounts fit regular Cal 2’s no problem, as well as his precision hangers. File to fit Tb218. hope this helps

Also, was there a small insert collar available? I just kitted up 2 DHs for Cal2s and there is a small hanger profile shaped collar that goes between the mount and the hangar. Looks like that is missing from this pic?

Nothing a shit-ton of JB Weld can’t fix. But the mount and hanger will be permanently joined… and I would do like 5 coats and let it sit for a full 6+ hours between coats and 48+ hours after the last coat before touching it

Of course it’s better to change mounts entirely… like a @boardnamics 184 hanger and two precision mounts (check that they are reversible)

The Paris truck mounts don’t use inserts. I see why nobody here uses Paris mounts for eskate. I do like how the trucks carve though.

Ah JB welds. It’s been a while since I used it. Thanks for the suggestion. May try that when I’m bored but in the meantime will switch to caliber mounts first.

Yeah Its not the best mount bay far. Maybe cheepest but nothing to count on. I snapped the bolt hex head with a small Allen key and im not the strongest.
