Why bother routing telemetry over the first throttle control channel ? I guess to simplify things and remove the dual connections ?

maybe in the early days… you had to have add that ble → vesc dongle on old vescs. and they only had one uart per side.

I think your model is reasonable given a vesc that already has bluetooth and room for a uart remote.

from different perspectives, either could be called simpler.

Interesting, thanks for finding that other open source remote. Based on the age and lack of updates, it looks defunct. Based on the some of the 3d-prints it looks very puck-like too, I am not impressed with the ergonomics.
