Also, it looks like these are all little separate boards. Once done prototyping, we can get this into a proper design and get boards fabricated. It’s really not that difficult. A good reason to use the ol’ Altium license
.
Also, @vap I guess Arduino is OK for this use case, but I tend to lean into RTOS like FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
Yes I thought about custom board, that would solve all the problems with power and vibration motor.
But I have 0 experience with laying out boards.
Would be fun to learn though.
Getting started for free you can use KiCAD.
Side note for anyone having remote troubles , I checked in with a hobby shop and they suggested cleaning remote (joystick or buttons) with few blasts for some electronic contact cleaner. Restored a remote I had to just like new !
Anyway, thought I would share the tip.
Something like this cleaner : https://www.wd40.com/electrical-cleaner/
Apply directly to PCB.
Before anyone else has a heart attack, the receiver is only $40.
The price above is for it and the remote.
If anyone gives it a try, let us know if it’s good!
Heart attack is still gonna happen since you would still have to purchase the $239 remote. Too bad it doesn’t connect to multiple receivers so it could be one remote for multiple boards.
That’s one of the really smart things Hoyt did with their remote, making it super easy to pair at ride-time. So no matter which remote I have and which board I have I don’t have to worry.
Until I got that Propel.
I don’t get it. How do you pair Hoyt and receivers “easily”
turn on esk8, hold down 2 buttons on the remote and press the power button.
done.
I never power up the remote any other way because I’m never sure which board it was last paired to ![]()
hmm gonna have to try that. I was gonna buy another puck remote from MBoard before they eventually sell out, might need to get a couple more receivers.
If anyones paying $280 USD for a thumbwheel remote, I have a really nice bridge for sale in Brooklyn.
And if it were a trigger remote?
I’d be mildly impressed.
Interesting.
Why the double standard?
I have 4 boards that have Hoyt receivers in them and I think I only had 2 remotes until I got the V2 recently.
LMK if you want me to post a video of how to do it, though I’m sure it already exists on YT or here.
