I have 48hrs to go from loose parts to quickness.
Here are pictures of what I have done.
I have an evolve board I like. I’m going to keep using it. Idgaf.
-cut hole for 2nd Esc bc 4wd racecar.
-using @Janux-esk8 heat sinks bc my evolve ones were getting gross. Tore it all down and did carbon fiber work to properly fit them and dual unitys.
-design is inspired by “whatever works and goes fast”.
-pics pending in larger posts. I’m on my phone bc I sold my MacBook Pro, and lost zero sleep over not having a laptop in my lyfe.
That’s impressive carbon work, it even looks like the weave is matched to the factory weave.
Thank you. Half the tear down was to fix idiotic holes I drilled previously for bad ideas.
Notes about carbon fiber:
-bad for your lungs
-it can be conductive if you have sanded through the epoxy
-don’t sand through the epoxy
-wet sand it and watch for black shit. If u see it, stop and ask wtf you are trying to do.
-carbon fiber will block your feeble remote communications. There are work arounds though.
Regular @Psychotiller six shooters to fancy sixshooters.
-used alumihide gun stock paint and baked them.
-zealous bearings for the win. You are stupid if you are using ceramics.
Fuck! Stay out of my photos. New phone and dirty hands. Not my money or doggo.
Whats the battery pack gonna look like and what cells/lipos… What kv motors and gear ratio?
We need a whole thread just for that sentence. Not a side topic in this thread ![]()
Good morning. Here’s where I’m at. I don’t have work today, but obviously, I have plenty of Eskate work.
First two tasks:
-I’m adding motor pulley guards (from evolve, had laying around). I break belts on 4wd more often than I should, I’m guessing road debris from city sprints are a significant contributor.
-I found the wire routing guards that almost look purpose built for 3 phase wires. I found them at ace hardware. I would like this latest revision of this impractical board to be tape/adhesive free. I’m considering how I’m going to mount them with proper fasteners.
I don’t think you can beat lipos when it comes to power density. (Are Samsung 30t/40ts close?)
I’m using either tattu 10ah hardcase packs or HRB 22ah monsters.
I used turnigy ultimate nanos in Colorado and puffed a pack on a practice run. They are substantially lighter, but do not inspire confidence in me anymore.
This is all aimed at racing in Lancaster CA this weekend.
10ah packs get me 6 miles riding aggressively, 8-9 if I’m just dicking around with traffic and following the posted speed Limit. ![]()
Sill using TKP’s for front and rear? Any wedges? Any tricks for going fast on TKP’s?
I like tkp hexls more than rkps. My trucks are a hybrid engineering sample I treasure. They have a story that doesn’t belong here.
The front sits on black SR bases (45deg?), the rears are hexl 50 degs. Correct me if wrong. Wedges built in are amazing.
My bushing set up (riptide) is a work in progress.
That. I’m jealous.![]()
running 8mm SR TKPs?
dont know they have the same bushing seat/hanger attachment design as SR
Whats you top speed currently with the heXL?
Ive been hitting 35 with stock bushings but no faster then that.
@moon @deckoz they are half and half, 8mm. I came to crying to psychotiller after I bent stock SR hangers awhile back and he helped me out with scrap from the parts bin.
@yelnats8j I consistently hit 40s with them. I have one straight line sprint in low 50s high 40s with 92a riptide bushings for SR bushing seats… bc that’s what these are.
