Did I kill my mountain board in the mud? UPDATE: It is Alive!

Are you using the arc predominately?

As your esc of choice?

If so please pm me.

Really??

Exact opposite of my experience. BLDC is usually far more torquey. I get that using bindings around town where you need to stop start on hills is sensor needy but why use bindings for city travel? Just take a foot off and skateboard.

Off road then why are you stopping?

Grow some Robin.

Oh shit I have done it now

You are going to come here sooner or later and we are going for a ride.

To also provide some valuable content to the OP, you have probably blown up your vesc.
Bad sensors can take a vesc with them so this is most likely the case with a shorted sensor plug due to water/mud.

Just don’t this again lol

It was a glorious couple miles though.
300 bucks worth… Not so sure…

If you consider what a ski pass and skiing gear costs, it isn’t too bad value for a similar amount of fun :joy:

Let me know when you come

So after getting home and hosing down the board I opened up the esc to find the mud in the sensor ports…

I sprayed the ports down with electronics cleaner and the sensor wire extensions.
I did a super lazy spray on the motors as well.

Then I set the board close to the air vent.
The next night I brought the dehumidifier up and ran it next to the board for about 24 hours.

So I decided to try it out tonight.
First I tryied it without the sensor wires plugged in.
All good.

So I says yay and fuck it.

So I plugged the sensor wires in and ran through the wizard again.

ALL GOOD.

The mud did not fix the one motor with the bad sensors but one motor got picked up like it was before.

Took it out for a 3.5 mile stroll.
All good.

My plan is to add JB weld rtv in between the wires in the cable glands to better waterproof.

I will probably never take it out in crazy mud like that.

But I do hope to run in in a couple inches of snow when the opportunity comes up.

It is a Christmas miracle.

Use silicone not jb weld for waterproofing Jb weld is great but its not a waterproofing adhesive, you want a little flex in your waterproofing.

The JB weld I ordered is a silicone rtv.
Could you share a link of what may be better.
I thought this would be good because of th temperature resistance.

Nah man, what’s the fun of a mountain board then?
seal it up really well. put as much silicone as it satisfies you.
also you may want some 419d conformal coating.

That will be fine, just normally when you refer to JB weld on this forum it means the Steel Epoxy
