Sat on these BN GD for a few years. Finally got them installed on my vertigo trucks. But they’re wobbing forward and back. Am i missing something? Obviously the axle nut isn’t titightened down, the issue is more then rolling forward and back on the trucks. And they are the right mounts for the right trucks. Even watched Ryan’s video on them.
Have you tried tightening the axle nut?
BN gear drives come with press fit adapters that’re milled to match the profile of your hanger. The profile inside the hanger adapter might not fit the profile of your hangers so there could be extra space that’s allowing the drive to rotate back and forth
Suggestion for a fix?
If you’re not married to the vertigo trucks you could swap out your rear hanger for a BN precision hanger and pair it with a matching hanger adapter on the gear drive. If you’re still keen on using the vertigo trucks you’d probably have to get custom adapters machined for the drives to mount to.
Not sure how much I trust it but I’ve seen some people use JB weld to fix the hanger adapters to the trucks semi-permanently. I wonder if cutting some custom aluminum shims could also potentially help fill in the dead space that’s causing the wobble
I think i like the custom adaptors. Sounds cheaper. But also a pain in the ass. And the hanger swap sounds simpler but more expensive. Both sound more reliable. Decisions decisions…
This was a joke, but also not a joke. BN drives are designed to be a loose fit on the trucks. When you crank down on the axle nut (with a proper spacer stack) the force clamps the drive to the hanger.
You only really have a problem if torquing down the axle nut DOESN’T fix the wobble.* Give it a try.
*You also have a problem if torquing down the axle nut fixes the wobble. But the gear drive ends up skewed and not straight on the truck.
Lol, yes sugar bear, I’m aware its a joke. Ya let me crank them down right quick
Ok ducky you were right, that fixed it. This was fucking deceiving and freaked me out when i fit it on without tightening the axle nut. Such an odd design. Thanks boo!
