BMS w/ Disabled Charging and Regenerative Breaks

So I just test-run’ed my esk8 that’s using an LLT bms w/ charging and discharge control, but now I am wondering what happens if I disable charging and brake my esk8? My guess is that either I blow my vesc or the vesc is smart to enough to shut itself down in time.

Regenerative braking is essentially back emf pumping current back into the battery, and because it’s CC, it always ensure that the battery is being charged. But if charging is disabled, that would mean any current that would otherwise flow into the battery will be directed back to the esc causing a voltage spike blowing up the controller?

Your assumption is correct. Don’t disable charging.
