It was hot racing

My Hot Racing 11T died in the same manner. Less than 10 miles completely worn through. My 11T Lodi pinions been performing great. And when these wear out I got 12T GDS on standby.

Oh holy shit

My “h-speed” branded ones lasted less than the charge in my race battery. At most like 7 miles before the motor no longer spun the wheel at all, and backlash was set correctly

We had a good line on quality pinions. Unfortunately we remain out of stock till things pick up. Losi makes a fine pinion.

Prior to starting the ride it stopped charging @ 50.00v which I thought was weird

Usually 12s in my experience goes up to 50.4v
I did have the Vescs on idk if that had anything to do with it. But idk maybe Ryan would know? I bought this JBD BMS from @ShutterShock ?

But I’m pretty sure that would have nothing to do with it…. Hmm.

Keep in mind I’ve never been able to charge all the way up because as soon as I assembled this battery I was basically draining it and never got into the upper ceiling as far as overall pack voltage

So as far as I’m concerned this will continue to happen. Not that big of a deal I’m just wondering why that’s happening, has anyone else experienced this?

how did you wired this battery to the bms? which model are you using? this bms usually takes up to 17S but you use less than that you have to jump the rest of the remaining wires to the last pack

So in that regard the wires that are jumped are in correct order I made sure of it.

I fucked up on the first go around but caught onto my mistake when I had run out of wires… and was like whattttt the farkkkk I only was to make sense of it after some guidance was given to me. I knew something was wrong I just didn’t know where I went wrong.

I had forgot about Ryan’s courtesy email when I was first soldering the balance leads and was following the specific directions as if it was the 14s rendition because that’s the only documentation that existed for this thing

Low and behold I had to undo the entire thing and then redo it. As far as functionality, it works totally fine I just have no idea why it stops before 50.4 V I have not bothered to look at the data sheet for it maybe the voltage ceiling is a bit lower for it idk

then the error is clear, you need to configure the bms to be 12S, it’s configured for 13 that’s why you’re seeing the 13th cell there and you have cell under voltage protection on the 13th cell

I presume that’s done in the app?, I thought jumping the wires did “configuring”

In number of cells write “12”

And the “write config”

Would there be any other setting to change with it in app?

yes you have to configure that in the app, also the battery capacity and the discharge curve to match your battery cells

Wow, I’ve never done that before excited to have an accurate battery reading or atleast more accurate. I had no idea that you could. That’s awesome.

This only provides an accurate(? Not sure i’ve never done it) reading if you’re using the bms for discharge

Yeah so uh my bad, I don’t come on here often. As my email stated, 13s and lower do not require reconfiguration

BUT sometimes you do need to set the BMS to 12s to make sure it reads properly. Sorry I didn’t make that clear.

Is there anyway to throttle the input current via the BMS? Specifically like in app?

I only wonder and hope because
My BMS gets overtly hot without some sort of active cooling.

I only have a 11.8Amp charger so it’s not like a ton of current but significant enough to make the thing hot. Idk maybe I’m just being a woose and should utilize a lower amperage charger

How hot is “hot” bc mosfets can get pretty hot without damage

I don’t have an actual temp reading for now, but what would be over the line in terms of temp in your opinion when I do get around to finding out what it cooks at?
