Can the AwithZ P20B 14kw spot welder weld 0.25mm Copper if using flux with 0.15mm stainless? I know someone was talking about testing this but never saw the results posted. I know they easily did 0.20mm copper with flux and 0.10mm stainless steel with a Gears setting around 348.
Is the thickness of the stainless critical?
It appears from what I read the resistance created by the stainless creates the heat allowing for lower Gears settings.
Does the slightly thicker 0.25mm copper need 0.15 mm of stainless steel or is 0.10mm the perfect setup?
Will 0.15mm stainless work better than 0.10mm when welding copper?
Has anyone successfully welded 0.25mm copper with flux and stainless size 0.??mm using the P20B 14kw what Gears setting or any other settings did you use.
Cheers

You can weld copper 0.25mm with Stainless Steel 304 0.1mm if you want without flux. 0.15 SS is perfect size. 0.2mm I find it to thick unless you are welding anything over 0.3mm scope out of the scope of that welder.
I have to disagree a bit here.
With my P20b, I was able to weld 0.25mm under 0.1mm stainless 304 at gear 930 no flux, but one of the 2 welds was very weak and the Ok weld was still below what I consider to be strong enough.
I did not push it upto gear 999 but based on previous experience I did not think it was worth pushing the machine this hard for a maybe as I was not going to max out the machine every weld building a battery with many welds.
In my estimation 0.25mm copper under 0.1mm stainless, without flux, would require at least gear 1060 on the P20B, and of course it only goes upto gear 999.
This is for 2 equal size welds which tears the copper when rolling it off, which I consider needed for esk8 applications.
I have had strong welds which did not tear the copper. They deformed the cell can and left some copper on the cell, but I would not trust such a weld in a high vibration/ high temperature swing environment.
I have no experience with 0.15mm Stainless, but have no doubt the P20B can weld 0.25mm copper under 0.15mm stainless, WITH flux, probably about gear 780-800.
