270kv motors + FSESC4.20

I have been trying to get my 270kv motors to work with my vesc on a 10s3p battery. I have tried foc and bldc motor setup but I have been able to get the motors to perform properly. On bldc they have almost no torque at all. On foc the motors have trouble spinning up properly and make alot of odd grinding noises but they do have much better torque once they spinup. I am still new to setting up motors so any advise would be very appreciated.

lol, that first vid is great. Just ride it like that.
In my experience, that’s about right for sensorless motors. You’ve got to push to get it started and then it should be relatively smooth.

Also:
ur gonna blow ur DRV chip bro.
Look into erpm limits and how motor kv and battery voltage relate to them.

So the odd noise/behavior is just a result of having sensorless motors?
From what I gather an erpm limit of 60000 should prevent my vesc from frying, and a 6s5p would be better for this setup then a 10s3p?

Sensorless requires the smallest bit of momentum to start going or else it cogs like demonstrated in the video.

6s would keep you under the erpm limit, but your initial torque would be quite poor.
